Google Sends Out Porn Notices

Several users of the website Blogger have received notices from Google informing them that if their blog contains adverts that monetize on adult content, they will be shut down on June 30th.

Currently Blogger does allow users to post adult images and videos as long as the content is categorized correctly. According to Blogger’s current Content Policy, they prohibit users from linking adult content to commercial porn sites in which the user can make a profit from the linking of adverts.
“Please be advised that on June 30th 2013, we will be updating our Content Policy to strictly prohibit the monetization of Adult content on Blogger. After June 30th 2013, we will be enforcing this policy and will remove blogs which are adult in nature and are displaying advertisements to adult websites.”

It isn’t a secret on how Google feels about the adult entertainment world, especially in recent months, but rather than just going after people who are making an extra buck or two, why doesn’t Google focus on cleaning out all of the pirated material that appears on Blogger? As of now it seems that only the users who are making a profit from adult entertainment adverts will be struck down. We can only hope that Google will quickly realize the massive amount of Blogger sites that are either hosting illegal content or sending viewers to third party websites that host pirated material.
